Opened & poured without decanting. I've been a member of the Michael David wine club for a while, and I believe this is the best bottle I've had from them. In short: its delicious. I drank by itself, without any food. Its intense flavors and medium complexity make it an interesting wine to savor all by itself, without needing food to compensate for shortcomings. The wine is deep crimson with purple hues. On the nose it is slightly earthy with promising floral and fruit notes. On the palette, the first thing you'll notice is puckering tart acidity, balanced with intense jammy fruits including cranberries and dark cherries. The fruit really shines here without being too sweet or too simple. Unlike the previous reviewer, I didn't really get any spicy or peppery notes, and tannins are barely there. What really pushes it over for me is a dense viscosity giving it a supple, smooth mouth feel. The tart acid, forward fruits and dense mouth feel make this wine really explode on the palette. Its got a long finish to keep you contemplating it for minutes. I think I paid $18 (club price) for this bottle. This may be the best QPR I've ever experienced. Update: this review was based on my first glass that was poured right out of the cellar- about 55 degrees F, maybe warming up to 60 or so. My second glass was closer to room temperature. In this glass, the peppery notes came out and the dense mouth feel was somewhat thinner. The fruit moved more toward a bing cherry taste. It is still very good at this temp, but I'd probably knock off a couple points. I prefer this one cold.

Deep crimson color, looks of purple. Nose reminds me of syrah and a little boozy. Spicy palate, blackberry, white pepper. Would guess syrah. Edgy tannins. Interesting.

Meh. Not as heavily-extracted as some of their wines, which is a good thing, but not a lot of character, doesn't stand out one way or another.

Soft tannins and opened up after while. Gritty but good.
