This has seemingly lost a lot of its depth and what it made it so compelling four years ago - I was right about it being at peak then. Still, this is a decent Chianti that does well with a pasta and lamb ragu with mushrooms, tomato and red wine.

I found this to be an enjoyable, but very rustic, bottle of Chianti. Having not had this producer before, I am not sure if it is just the style or if this is partly a consequence of the hot vintage. It also seems likely this would have been better consumed a bit earlier.
The nose is highly aromatic with leather, brown spices, tomato, and a bit of dried dark fruit. It appears to be slightly oxidative and possibly coming from a not totally clean cellar or barrel. On the palate, the wine actually comes across a bit fresher and cleaner, but with a similar flavor profile of smoke, leather, spices, and dark fruit, while avoiding the hint of oxidation I get on the nose. The wine comes across as a bit aggressive with very high acidity, but medium to light in body with minimal tannin remaining.

Perfectly mature Chianti. Cherries, iron and truffles. Fruit is drying up so drink now.

Lite järn, blod, köttig. Inte riktigt angenäm doft. Men till mat är den fantastiskt bra. Inga tanniner kvar så på gränsen.
