  • My records show that I spent $13 on this bottle in 2017. Those were the days. I was interested because it was made by Tenuta di Sesta. The wine opened up a little tired tasting, giving me concern that I should have drunk it when I bought it rather than cellaring it for years. However, over time that better qualities of the wine began to emerge - aged fruit, soft tannins, Montalcino tastes. By the last glass this was a good bottle of wine and I was sorry to see it go. It sometimes takes a fair amount of breathing to let wines from this region emerge.

  • Ruby with a tinge of brick. Needed an hour or so to open up In glass. Attractive nose of wild cherry and fresh grass. Palate has wild red fruits (very fragrant, more bitter than ripe), white pepper, a bit of cigar, dirt road and only the faintest kiss of oak. Medium bodied, restrained and elegant, and really shows the terroir. definitely a food wine - spinach ravioli with tomato caper sauce turned the energy way up. Definitely approachable now but I'm sure will be delicious in 5. Outstanding QPR for 15 bucks and a candidate for house red! 89-90 (with food)
