First of 12. Opened 1 hour before leaving for dinner and then decanted at the restaurant. Would have benefited from a longer decant. Still big and bold and has plenty of life. Nice red fruit on the nose. Cannot wait to drink the next one in about another year.

Ohhh thats good !

This was really lovely after an hour of opening. Beautifully balanced palate and nose. I had this with braised lamb shank with pesto and polenta. I had this again the following night and I did not like this as much. The oak that was well integrated the night before was much more noticeable the following day.

This was an outstanding wine. It was more old world-like than typical for California (which I like). High acid. High alcohol. Medium bodied. Big but smooth tannins. Great balance of fruit and secondary/tertiary notes on the nose and palate. Only noticeable "new worldliness" was that it had a bit less minerality than a good Burgundian Pinot Noir.

Medium ruby. Aromatic with black cherry, raspberries, and hibiscus. Dry, medium-full body, fresh acidity, medium tannins, and good balance. Flavors of raspberry, hibiscus, and hard candy.
