Big and almost brawny. I prefer my pinots to be elegant, and this is the exact opposite. Earthy, black-fruited, heavy, dense, spicy and with tar (can't remember if I've ever tasted tar in a pinot before - and I'm really old) - more like an Australian Shiraz than a California pinot, but without the dryness or graininess of a shiraz. Medium to full-bodied with soft edges and not near enough acidity for my palate - and way, way out of balance. To me, this is like an expensive Belle Glos - and I hate Belle Glos. I opened it to have with dinner. May have to open a different wine. Will not score as it so far out of my wheelhouse I just don't get it. .

Talk about experiencing the full life cycle of a wine. I had six bottles of this at one time and popped my last one open tonight. As fresh and pristine as the very first bottle. Medium body with dark cherry but an elegant and smooth delivery. Fully integrated and still drinking beautifully. In fact, while some don’t care for how big Russell’s wines are, this beautiful Pinot is far from over the top. Almost an elegance and grace. This is truly an example of synergy across the various characteristics and components of this wine- the whole is greater than the sun of its parts. I am so fortunate to have experienced this wine over the course of a number of years.

Dark color, for me missing the Pinot nuances. An outlier? Food wine? Lots of mixed dark berries. Just not a flavor profile I will follow. Sell
