  • Drinking well, classic Bordeaux, fairly austere but still some fruit, not overripe or cooked at all like some 2003’s

  • Classic bordeaux nose. Lots of dirt and metal shavings on the nose. Some slight notes of cherry and red fruits. In the mouth the dirt/metallic taste carries through which I really love. No fruit bomb here. Mid pallette is a little light but has a decent finish. Still some firm tannins going on but definitely drinking beautifully right now. Should have bought a few more of this. Great bargain bordeaux.

  • Opened two bottles, thought the first might have been flawed...
One bottle open 2 hours, second popped and poured. Garnet in color. Nose is almost all secondary characteristics: cigar box, slight bell pepper, pencil lead, maybe some anise - had to really work to tease out any fruit. On the palate the fruit is almost completely missing with unintegrated tannins. Medium finish. Not bad, but you have to like bordeaux. I remember this being much better, probably past it's prime; I doubt that two bottles were flawed.

  • Really nice wine now. Wish I had a few more.

  • Good value, even at restaurant pricing. A medium-bodied wine with a medium ruby core. Nothing overly complex on the nose - red flowers, vanilla, red and blue fruits - but the palate had a very elegant mouthfeel that almost made up for the shortcomings of the nose. Went very well with a tenderloin. I would buy this again. Right now, the '05 shows the most promise and is an exceptional value at around $25. Drink thru 2012.
