Classic bordeaux nose. Lots of dirt and metal shavings on the nose. Some slight notes of cherry and red fruits. In the mouth the dirt/metallic taste carries through which I really love. No fruit bomb here. Mid pallette is a little light but has a decent finish. Still some firm tannins going on but definitely drinking beautifully right now. Should have bought a few more of this. Great bargain bordeaux.

Opened two bottles, thought the first might have been flawed... One bottle open 2 hours, second popped and poured. Garnet in color. Nose is almost all secondary characteristics: cigar box, slight bell pepper, pencil lead, maybe some anise - had to really work to tease out any fruit. On the palate the fruit is almost completely missing with unintegrated tannins. Medium finish. Not bad, but you have to like bordeaux. I remember this being much better, probably past it's prime; I doubt that two bottles were flawed.

Good value, even at restaurant pricing. A medium-bodied wine with a medium ruby core. Nothing overly complex on the nose - red flowers, vanilla, red and blue fruits - but the palate had a very elegant mouthfeel that almost made up for the shortcomings of the nose. Went very well with a tenderloin. I would buy this again. Right now, the '05 shows the most promise and is an exceptional value at around $25. Drink thru 2012.

Vignot pours a deep, dark, garnet color with purple overtones. A mild aroma of cigar box is noted with musty earth and dried cherries. I actually caught a whiff of toffee after I let it sit for a while. A medium bodied specimen with a texture that tells me it's drinking right now. Flavors of rose petal, currant, dried dark fruits, leather and cedar all show well. The finish is long and rustic. Overall: Vignot ultimately lacks the depth of flavor needed to produce a classic example. It's a good value.

Pierre Seillan (Vigneron K-J: Verite(Napa); Tenuta di Arceno Arcanum(Tuscany); and Ch.'s Lassegue and Vignot(St Emillon) (DUO, Miami): At Duo, Miami Pierre Seillan wine dinner. Decanted 3 hours. Cousin to the Lassegue. Very drinkable now and an excellent QPR. The St Emillon's were clearly better than the $100=/- 02 Arcanum I & II. Wine had good but modest bouquet and while quite flavorful, is not as intense or rich as the slightly pricier Lasseque. I will buy both, but prefer the Lasseque for its richness, complexity and potential. This was Seillan's 1sr vintage in St Emillon, and he and Jess Jackson only closed on the property mid-summer. The 04's and 05's would seem to offer great promise, and hopefully for 05, a reasonable value. I wouldn't be surprised to see these St Emillon's approach the quality of the Verite's, whose 1st vintage was 98!

Drinking well, classic Bordeaux, fairly austere but still some fruit, not overripe or cooked at all like some 2003’s

Nice wine. Nothing special. It's a bit too fruity and simple for my taste.
