Friends shared this with us when we stopped by on 6/11/17. It had a very fragrant and expressive bouquet of strawberry, raspberry, tea and baking spice aromas. The palate was rich, focused and dry with flavors of strawberry, raspberry and baking spice.

Decanted for an hour. Started initially thin (both body and flavor), but this pinot continued to evolve over the next hour. Light cherry and vanilla notes emerged. My favorite aspect was the finish, which developed both length and complexity over time. Still, this pinot did not possess the same rich dark fruit of other Hartford single-vineyard pinots. Given the price point, not a great QPR.

Hartford Family Winery: Incredibly thin and watery. Some extremely light strawberry, rhubarb, cigar box, and earth notes surfaced, but you had to really struggle to find the flavors. Nearly no depth or concentration. So overly lithe it essentially collapsed on the finish. A green peppercorn note on the back end didn't help matters. Even hard core Francophiles would likely struggle to find true enjoyment here. Instantly forgettable.

100% French oak, 21% new for 16 months. Alcohol: 14.7%. Very intense and rather dominant cherry notes but also smoke, marzipan, tea, some earth notes and herbs. The fruit is very ripe, especially on the palate and there is a slight bitterness in the finish. There is also a tannic structure to the wine.
