  • Opened a bad bottle last week, then discovered a second. Day one: no immediate oxidative notes like the first bottle, but pretty mean and green. Day two: did not retaste. Day three: oxidated (and still mean). I give up.

  • Fruit has a pruney edge that does not dissipate with air, indicating oxidation. There is also an intense and unpleasantly bitter citric acidity which belies the fat, rather low acid wines others made in this vintage. I suspect I've been the victim of acidification, and if so I'm very disappointed in that kind of manipulation from this off-the-grid vintner.

  • We probably woke this up from a nap. Great nose, reticent palate with more acid than fruit. 2-3 hours of decanting failed to budge it. The fruit is definitely dialed back from what I tasted at the winery last summer. Hold.

  • Just copied my note from 12/2016. Just as nice as when I tasted it in Leavenworth. Scarlet in color. Floral and black raspberry aroma upon opening. New world in nature but not heavy on the palate. Extracted like his cab, but that's his style. Beautiful fruit, spice and goodness. Light in alcohol at 13+% (thanks), good acidity, and a long, long finish.

  • Wow Rob, just as nice as when I tasted it in Leavenworth. Paired with Zucchini logs (marinara, sweet sausage, onion, garlic, and spices) and we ate a lot of logs and drank a lot of wine......
