Full bodied and nicely balanced. Getting smoother and more balanced with age.Medium to dark ruby in color. Black raspberry, plum, dark cherry, mint and vanilla on the palate. Grippy tannins aplenty and a lingering Rutherford dusty finish. Not quite the Cab heavy percentage I most appreciate but still very worthwhile.

Reportedly this is the rebranding of the old Freemark Abbey “Bootleg” which ostensibly was a blend of Sycamore and Bosche’ single vineyard offerings. This is deep indigo in color. Nose of plum and ripe berry. On the palate this has all the red fruit I associate with Sycamore. What’s missing is the smokiness and menthol or eucalyptus often prevalent in the Bosche’. Also there is a sweetness on the finish slightly reminiscent of Josephine. Medium tannins accompany a medium finish. In short, I suspect this is really a different and more complicated blend than the old Bootleg. This is approachable but I liked the Bootleg better.

Consistent with my prior note. Drinking next in 2022. Fantastic now. Black and red fruit with firm tannins. Long finish.
