Full colour, oaky, smokey nose, some dark fruit in the background. Lots of sediment in this one. Quite lean, red-fruited, with a zingy citrus acidity. Not overly complex but a decent length. Ready now. Bare***

No formal note. This had a lovely, if slightly reticent, lightly smoked, meaty, pork crackling nose. Not much fruit in evidence on nose, slightly more on palate, with darker plum fruit, meat, smoke, lovely fresh contrasting zingy acidity, fine tannins and a medium length finish. Very drinkable still, but nothing to suggest it will get any better.

Medium/deep ruby core, medium pale garnet rim. On the nose farmyard, smoke, some underlying darker fruit. Quite meaty too. Farmyard blowing off a little after 15 minutes or so, showing more moist earth and undergrowth. Meaty and gamey on the palate too, with relatively soft tannins and decent, if not huge, concentration just about carrying the medium + acidity. Medium length finish with savoury notes. Enjoyable mature burgundy from relatively unfashionable commune. Now to 2008.
