Rosh Hashanah Dinner and Wine in NYC with Leslie, Erica and friends: This Pomerol was the crowd-pleaser of the night. It drank forward and showy, with red fruit, spice, tobacco, earth and a little leather (more in the 1st bottle than the second, to me). The 2nd bottle had a little more menthol and pine needles - or perhaps it was just the 1st bottle was open longer before vanishing! It was great with the beef briskets (both) and not bad with the salmon.
The wine is 55% merlot and 45% cabernet franc. I think it would be interesting to age the wine and see what happens, although I don’t think this will last at our house. (I bought all 14 bottles!)

Coravin pour. Red fruit, spice, tobacco, earth, tannins and a touch of menthol on the finish. Pomerol is a great way to make weeknight spaghetti and meatballs special! This wine will last for years - although perhaps not at our house!

Wonderful Pomerol and great QPR. Nose of red fruit, leather, library books and dark earth. Ripe and concentrated red fruit on the front palate followed by earth, tobacco, and fine tannins. Quite balanced and beautiful feminine Pomerol. Drink or hold.

What wine pairs with gluten-free, vegan food and a baby shower? Nothing, I think, but this was great on its own (in the glasses I brought). It even went with a couple of the dishes, such as the pasta mac and cheese thing (gluten-free pasta) with tomatoes. I mostly brought this wine because 2 of my wine-pro friends were there.

Lovely red wine for after dinner, with notes of red fruit, spice, tobacco and a little earth. Drink now or age.
