A Comparative Bordeaux blends tasting (France, NZ, US etc) with Peter: A relatively shy nose of spicy plums and other red and black fruits, with a little medicinal note. The initial impression on palate is lightness and then, under the sappy, viscous wine surface you see the depth and serious weight of red and black berry fruit, again with that odd medicinal note. The wine is a 'fruit bomb' with a huge volume of fruit. To me, the wine seemed overdone, and the acids too low to provide freshness and balance. However, the wine is a young one, that will hopefully go somewhere more interesting? Merlot 60% and Cabernet Sauvignon 40%.

Brought to a restaurant. Didn't get quite enough air time, but opened up nicely as we went along. Dark Crimson w/ a lighter rim. The nose is a mix of red currant & cocoa powder. Beautiful aromatics. One to sniff at length. This enters with some dark bing cherry & darker fruit. Mocha & cedar persist throughout. The merlot- heavy side of the blend makes this inviting to drink now, tannins are silky. A tad on the oaky side, this will be really beautiful in another year or two.

Expressive nose of black fruits, more earthy than wine 1 with spice and herbs. Denser palate of black cherry, blackberry, herbs and a long smooth spicy finish.

Still young, but worth checking in on. A very deep nose of black raspberries, some oak and black cherries. On the palate, this is delicious if young. Lots of fruit but not spoofed IMO. Balanced. Outstanding.

Solid tannins with good balance of the acidity. Pleasant black fruit with a nice finish.
