A light maroon and still young and a lighter body. Fresh and sharp nose with dark berries, oak and spices. Bordeaux like on the nose with a hint of sweetness. On the palette, it is obviously new world. Inky wonderful silky tannins and acidity and surprises with its weighty layer of flavours... Long finish. Wow this is good. Going to let it breathe a bit so it all rounds up together. 70% Merlot with 30% Cab Sauv This will go so well with my peking duck wraps... Oh yeh

A rich and intense wine enjoyed to a grilled beef. Aromas of black currant, black berru, Lots of eucalyptus/mint and a hint of green pepper. Dry, high acidity, high tannin, high alcohol, full body and high intensity. Needs more years in the bottle. Tasted against Hyde De Villaines Californio Syrah. In my opinion better than the extremely rich and too intense Syrah

Two hour decant. Deep dark ruby magenta, with only the slightest rim fade. Plum, fig, soy sauce, red apple peel, parchment paper and cinnamon streusel on the complex nose. Smooth, dry, full bodied palate, with tongue drying acidity. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish. Very nice Right Bank blend (70% Merlot and 30% CS), although there was some distracting tartness that prevented a higher score. This is probably beyond its peak for me.

Ripe style and bold per the '13 vintage - still young, and will be interesting to see how more aging may bring the finesse that is likely to emerge given the heritage.
