  • Prior bottle was almost 2 and a half years ago and the wine has taken a clear, positive step forward in that time, exceeding expectations. Blackberry, plum and mineral notes on the nose. Between medium to full bodied with blackberry and black cherry notes upfront. Gains depth through the middle, adding plum and darker black cherry> Mid-body has much more elegance and a much more expressive fruit profile than previously. Backside shows tart black cherry, tannins, acidity, spices and minerals. Integrated between mid-body and finish has also improved. Overall, this wine simply felt more harmonious while remaining nicely supported structurally. Should continue to evolve along these lines over the next few years. Glad I had some patience as this was well worth the wait.

  • Blind tasted. This cannot be French with so much fruit and acidity to boot. Bricking on rim would indicate more age. Leather on the nose with orange peel, walnuts. Nutty, oxidized, walnuts again, prunes. Explosive prune mid palate. A real UFO wine not at all like any other Etna wines I have tasted but very moreish!

  • Blind tasting for my guest. Pnp, bricking hue. Nose of leather, nuts and orange peal. Vin de noix. Mouth straight , mineral with dry prunes, liccorice, and Vermouth. The wine is lively, complex, with a powerfull core. Not so long palate. It hide well his 15% alc. Not the best exemple of balance, but terroir and expression of and old volcano and its mineral wines.

  • Blackberry, plum and spice notes on the nose. A bit above medium bodied (15% ABV) and noticeably different in profile to the 2013 from last night - all blackfruit with blackberry leading the way. Good amount of brightness upfront and a touch of added depth through the middle. Also brings in dark plum, nearly prune flavors before shifting to tart black cherry, spices and mineral qualities on the back and through the finish. The tannins and acidity were a bit overpowering at first, but given a lot of time open or decanted, this wine can show well at present. Given the depth of fruit here, I think this is a hold for now as I think this wine has the element to come into better balance down the road. I might hold my next bottle until Q1/Q2 2023.

  • Lush dark-fruit aromas of plum and blackberry with hints of olive. It is cool and mineral-driven, a present rockiness. Some herbs and black cherry fruit. Long in the mouth. Feels regal. Very nice. young.
