Guigal New Releases including 2013 LaLas: Violets, peppery and blackcurrant. Good spice on the palate, good freshness and nice structure, with a little prickly acid on the finish being the only detraction.

2017 Guigal single vineyard cote rotie release dinner (Bel & Brio, Barangaroo): tarragon, struck match, peppery spice, touches of crushed rock over blackcurrant and berry. Juicy, fleshy, black hued fruit, fine but slightly drying tannins. Nice with the food this becomes a little bitter. Having said that this, to me, feels like a junior version of the hermitage but sure my palate is lying is to me.

Gives a big opening blast of black currant. Dark, rich with great structure but an almost creamy texture. Delightful

Decent example of Guigal's skill in a fair to middling vintage. Good structure and classic Rhone syrah character.

More red fruit notes than I expected, but terrific regardless. Good acidity and tannin as well, should hold up for at least 5-10 years.
