Lemon yellow color. Delicate, cool and quite attractive nose with subtle aromas of apple slices, some autolytic toasty character and a hint of creaminess. The wine is bright, crisp and pretty light-bodied on the palate with racy acidity and lively flavors of lemony citrus fruits, some saline minerality and a hint of yeasty leesiness. The mousse feels soft, fine and persistent. The mouth-cleansing finish is crisp and racy with long flavors of saline sea wind, tart green apples, some lemony citrus fruits and a hint of chalk.
A very pure, mineral and racy Champagne with lovely freshness and focus. Remarkably balanced and enjoyable already, despite its obvious youth, but I prefer my Champagnes with some age. Fortunately this wine shows terrific cellaring potential, so I wager this will be a thing of beauty at 10 years of age. Perhaps a bit too young now, but with a year or two more this will hopefully show a bit more developed complexity in addition to its fresh, racy fruit. Terrific now, but I expect my score to go up with age.

Sunday Fun-day with Bérêche (Kline Household): The third of our five distinct designations from Bérêche et Fils. This was a fun follow-up from the previous "Côte" 40 Mois de Cave which was also a Blanc de Blanc but this once had a bit more depth and richness to it; no doubt a result of the ancient vines that were used (some planted in 1902!).
