My third bottle before I could really get a good read on this; much more trocken than spatlese; acidity is almost too much and is a real distraction from the rest of wine; once you get past the acid, there are nice apple and pear flavors which persist on moderately long finish
Spätlese trocken seems a contradiction in terms, but I guess "spätlese" now designates a certain range of grams of sugar per liter (172–209) rather than a late harvest as such, and trocken means that the sugar is entirely fermented into alcohol though at 12% it's not that high. Like many moselles it has the perfume of mirabelle plums and lots of fruit on the palate, very juicy, with a long dry finish. QPR fantastic @ $13.
