Drank for my birthday. Clear garnet. Developed nose. So much liquorice, along with mushroom and truffle, with some game. Low tannins and alcohol. Complex and balanced. Most thought 90s burgundy. This also added weight over time.

This was the last vintage made by Jean Trapet, father of Jean-Louis. Leathery nose, seems odd but it was great. Elegant wine, not dense, and muted by its high acidity.

Utterly beguiling. Incredibly fine-grained tannins were perceptible but only in serving to give the ethereal liquid a textural beauty that is impossible to adequately convey. If I were to compare it to cashmere or velvet it would not only sound hackneyed but would also lend the description a weightiness that did not exist. The palate, whilst not big, was full of earthy flavours and umami whilst still maintaining some residual fruit to maintain charm. By the last glass the acidity was starting to dominate but by that time everyone was smitten.
