This wine tastes a few years past its expiration date, but it was interesting to check in on this inaugural edition of one of my favorite vineyards at the 20-year mark. Dark red in color; full in body; nose of espresso, dried herbs, and gravel. Ripe and kind of blurry flavors of black currant, prune, damp cocoa powder, and fruit cake, with a silky but heavy finish. Blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot. 14.5% alcohol.
I wish I had opened this wine 3-5 years ago, since I've had so many profound Thorevilos wines (though, unfortunately, this bottle is not one of them). For reference, this 2000 had less definition and energy than a 2000 Bryant tasted last night. Decant a few hours to dissipate some of the wine’s pluminess. Drink now.

From a supposedly weak vintage, I found this 18 year old Cabernet to be drinking very well and much younger than it's age. Still deep in color with lots of rich, dark fruits in the nose and flavor. Black currants, blackberries, black cherries, leather, earthiness, and floral notes. Full bodied wine with nice complexity, and a long finish.

Colin and Dinh brought this. Wasn't quite as good as the vintage they had at the wedding, but still very, very good. Surprisingly beat out the 2001 Ornellaia we brought (that's a first). Graphite, currant, dusty.

200 Burgundy Grand Crus from vintage 2000, 4-day blind tasting (Singapore): Pirate bottle. This smelled very Italian, high tannins, as drying as it gets on the finish. More like a Barolo. Too tannic. Meh!. Aroma 94, Palate 85

Our tasting notes were eerily similar to our notes from just over one year ago. Still drinking well and and an over achiever for the vintage.
