  Decanted for about an hour. Color is deep ruby with medium-high aroma intensity. Smells strongly of black fruit, namely cherry, and wet gravel. Smells very nice. Wine has nice fruit throughout with more acidity than I was expecting but very balanced and smooth tannin. Fruit carries throughout with a slightly smoky finish. Wine definitely has finesse! A keeper.

  Nicely done, with typical South African gaminess in the nose and mouth, showcasing cassis and boysenberry, smoke, leather, and a touch of tobacco.
  
  Really nice with some protein (we had it with ribs, but I'd happily serve this with steak or lamb).
