  Was surprised how many tertiary characteristics this had for a 6 year old wine. Needed 30 minutes to open up, but once it did, it was a powerhouse of black fruits, dark cherry and spice, which was needed to keep up with the arresting tannins. Kind of like a cross between an aged Zinfandel and a port (just not sweet). Interesting and enjoyable, the sort of wine I'd like to have once or twice a year but no more than that.
