A real “hit between the eyes” style that manages to be both savoury and sweet, juicy and raisiny but the prevailing impression was sparkling Port. Really peculiar, and again a bitter note crept in at the end which did it no favours. CHP 81 pts

Mini Grapemates Christmas Party 2021: (July 2014 disg) Cranberry, cherry, earth and graphite on the nose. Palate shows good depth, with porty sweetness but good acidity to cleanse. I do like this style when it comes to sparking Shiraz.
Angelica Wine Club - Wines of ill repute (MV Bistro, Crown Street): Creamy mousse, red berry backed by blackberry, vanilla, cinnamon, a little yeastiness lends brioche and doughnut for me. On the palate it's juicy, fresh with a similar fruit and oak profile and some alcohol warmth lending a little breadth. Rather pleasant.

Bottle from unknown disgorgement date, but suspected to be late '90s. Cork didn't want to come out and broke, on the way out. Bottle was corked. Well past it's drink by date. Nose only had cork and there was not much body left in the wine.
One more bottle from same origin to drink, but looks as though it has been cellared better.

Not again! Blackcurrant and cherry liqeur, musty wood, lack of palate progression, lovely mouse, too sweet. A sparkling red for big McLaren/Barossa red fans, and the idea of using aged red and fortifieds in this is misplaced. We'd easily prefer a Rumball/Seppelt at 1/3 or so of the price
