  • Lovely wine. So expressively dark fruited and terroir driven. Blueberries, black cherries, dried flowers, espresso, and pencil lead are ensconced in a grip of gravelly minerality. Firm tannin softens with air, the flavors turning candied, while never losing the ferrous, crushed rock intensity that defines its personality.

  • Criticising the supposed shortcomings of a seven-euro wine is easier than highlighting its virtues for what it really is.
Aromas of hawthorn flower, pastry and a earthy sensation. At this level, it can be considered deep. A classic, serious and masculine red, clear representative of its appellation. Flavours of Chinese ink or blue flowers. It has an acute acidity that is concentrated in the center of the palate and that clearly stands out at the end giving to the wine some persistence. Well-integrated alcohol. Rusticity has softened over the years. Heavy no more. Better serve it with food and something chilled (14 C). It is very clear that this is not the worst wine of mister Rodriguez. Maybe just one of the cheapest.
By the way, spending argon gas for a bottle like this is a waste of time and probably of money.
May I insist? Toro is not for everyone. IMHO separates men from brats.

  • Dark red-violet. Tart cherry nose. Tart cherry, chokecherry, elderberry, earth and then vanilla and Concord grape. Good acidity and fine tannins with moderately long grapey finish. While elements are individually interesting, the wine doesn’t come together in a pleasing fashion. Tasted 3 times with Coravin with similar impression.
