Community Tasting Notes (6) Avg Score: 91.3 points

  • 91-92 similar to previous bottles. Aged to perfection, gamey spice and pomegranate nose. Palate more or less matches with mostly dull red fruit. It is a lithy wine and doesn't carry much weight but drinks amazingly well with semi tart acidity, resolved tannin and fully mature, drink now.

  • Pnp; Translucent brick brown/orange on the rim, brick red center, showing its age more than the previous bottle opened. Dried autumn leaves, pomegranate, cranberry, savory notes, palate matches nose with the savory component being more on the back end. Great acidity, light and ethereal, nice balance and at a sweet spot maturity wise.

  • Ah, that pale elusive aging red profile of properly aged burgundy! This wine, still available commercially, shows a 90% full expression, with the deceptively light elegant Nuits St Georges profile, highlighting tree-like airs of perfumed red currant, plum and cherry. While by no means a great burgundy, and certainly a falling off on the finish, this wine requires no decant and will last through a decently long meal. This will never be a top level entry, but for some taste of properly aged burgundy, it is a very nice purchase.

  • This third bottle surprisingly showed less age and more of a closed profile. It took a good 40 minutes to coax the crunchy red currant, cherry and foresty earth notes, and even the then the soft fruit in the prior two bottles did not appear. Goods acid, darker blood red color, and some high toned red fruit on the nose. Definitely decant and wait for the richer fruit to emerge.

  • As good as I had hoped. Red berries, sous bois, dried roses, nice spice, delicious. Very elegant, tannin completely resolved, nice acidity, light on its feet, very mature. Paired with escargot and duck confit.
