  • this is a 100% chardonnay from the Jura. Argileux-calcaire soil with compact argile elements; soil is a unique yellow-brown color. vines dating to 1947, eastern exposure.
Fermentation and aging in 228L fut, 1/3 new wood, for 12 monthss. Light SO2.
strong smoky nose upon opening, then notes of honey and grilled ripe fresh white fruit emerge, then dried flowers always against a smoke "background".
A rich, round body, with notably minerality and smokey (more "grilled") fresh fruit, nuts and toast. lower acidity than would be expected but the wine is well integrated and the unique oxydatif flavors rise above the minerality; sufficient acidity to hold the wine together well. Another 5 years easily, perhaps more?
