  • Deep purple - still intense. Cured meat, blood and tapenade on the nose - very forward. Rich palate - blackberry to the fore. Soft tannin on a nice long finish. Quite high acidity.

  • Decanted prior to enjoying with a grilled ribeye, mushrooms and Brussels sprouts. I’d previously enjoyed the 2013 vintage of this wine, but “from the get go”, I could tell this was far superior in all aspects. Complex and pronounced aromas and flavors: floral purple flowers, smoked meat, bacon fat, campfire embers, black pepper, ripe blackberry, savory black plum, black cherry compote, black licorice, fennel, herbal tea, and black granite laden earth. Rich, smooth, and powerful mouthfeel supported with a seamlessly integrated structure with tannin, acid, and oak in relative harmony. Finishes very long and persistent. Seems to be “coming of age” and starting to hit stride at seven years; in development, but not yet at peak. Has all the elements for additional cellaring: balance, intensity, length and complexity. Outstanding. Drink now through 2032+.

  • Delicious. Drinking well with brief decant.

  • Double decanted for about an hour; soaring aromatics of violets, blackberry, lavender, smoke and stone that led to a lively, saturated, blackberry, earthy and peppery spice driven palate that lingered.

  • First taste from Pilon and I quite enjoyed this; served with a bacon wrapped elk roast which paired well; the nose was very floral with dark berry fruit, crushed rock, lavender, some smoke and just a hint of sanguine. The palate is ripe and polished with the structure totally absorbed by the fruit and density. Definitely seems to have some viognier in it based on the floral nose and very good now. Should age for the mid term, but not sure there's a ton of upside so I'd say drink now and over the next 5-10 years.
