Two hour decant, put back in the bottle and communed at the restaurant. I don’t get any rocks, hardly any nose on this wine. However, a very dark smooth, little to no tannins present and a short finish. The wife loved it.

I love The Rocks! This has the smoky, meaty and feral character I have come to expect. Not the most pronounced example but the bar is also very high for that! Outstanding!

Yeehaw! This is full-on The Rocks defined for you right there! Deep, dark, 'evil' flavours almost devoid of fruit notes, so dark in notes (not colour), this would be a great fit for the devil! It displays smoke, ash, molten lava, roasted pine, clove spice, those kind of notes, if there is a berry to be found, it is the darkest blackberry. However, on the palate it is actually quite mild mannered with soft, ripe tannins and quite a juicy taste. My girlfriend and an acquaintance independently of each other said it was pinot noir-like and I can see where they are coming from. The notes, however, are very far from pinot noir and to me, very true for the Rocks of Milton Freewater. A true American Vin de Terroir in my humble opinion.

Typical nose from the area. Funk and dirt. Loved it. The body and finish were incongruent to the nose, but it worked very well. Will let the other bottle lay down for 3-4 years to let it evolve.
