Decanted one hour. Deep nearly black plum, obviously young. Nose offers milk chocolate, brambly beach plum, horsehair, five spice powder, concentrated black fruit liqueur. Dense, intense and rich. 14% alc, presents more like 15%, because it needs time. Moderate brett adds interest. Syrupy black fruit, licorice, and strong tannic structure through the finish. Needs 4-5 years to delineate flavors. Will easily bump a point or two then.

WOW, probably one of the most intense Serène Noire ever. Bouquet of dark fruit, cassis, some oriental spice and dusting minerality. The palate comes with enormous punch, but refined tannins. With all it’s power, amazingly it is balanced with good acidity. I‘m amazed it did not close down, but I guess it can easily develop for two more decades.

Even bigger, more dense and dark than the Barbarine, partly b/c of the old vines, but partly b/c of a good dose of Brett on this. (Yves said it's the first time it has affected his wine this much and that it's going around in Cote-Rotie cellars currently). Licorice, anise, close, black and blue fruits, rich, dense, muddy, from the Rozier v.y. in barrel, 50% new. Would like this more if the brett was a little more subtle. It's not bad and in fact I like it, but still a bit much. 92-93 At Spring w/Yves Gangloff and Francois Villard.
