Starting very fresh with red fruit, than a grenache style with some cocoa and a round and firm taste, so far so good, but in the finish too much sweetness spoils a bit the balance.

Clear, deep garnet. Clean nose - pronounced black cherries, raspberries, blackberries, mushroom, plenty of oak. Palate is dry, low acid, medium tannin, medium body - black plums, black cherries, slight game meat, spices. Finish is medium. I really like the savoury part of the nose but the palate is a little too jammy, the grapes may have been a little too warm at some point, no doubt this is a low budget Zin. Keen for a premium.

Simple but pleasant enough - this was a good pairing with a spiced pulled pork taco at Indian Accent. The nose showed sweet berries and brambly herb chased by a touch of exotic spice. The palate had the usual thick, ripe blackberried sweetness of a Zin, with just enough acidity and soft tannins to keep it in shape, and then a twist of bittersweet herb and spice at the shortish finish. Okay by itself, but a really solid pairing with the sweet, spiced pork.

Spicy nose, cedarish oak. Red fruit. Smooth, short finish with mild acidity.
