  • 3-30-23. Foxcroft Dilworth. Very good! Jammy, did not need to open.

  • Soft and supple with mocha and dark fruit. Took an hour for it to open up and settle down, but then it was very smooth and luscious. Lots of time if you have any of this, but this was my last.

  • Don’t remember when I last had this but it’s enjoyable on its own and I suspect with food. Blackberry on an otherwise non descript nose. There’s a light polish as the sweet fruit crosses the palate, but I wish there was more weight or depth.

Nice wine and not unfairly priced, but I can think of lots of $75 wines we enjoy more than this.

  • Slow ox for two hours, sweet black fruits, some mint, vanilla, and oak, plums. The wine is almost black in the glass with a glint of garnet. Int he mouth, the wine is full bodied, med tannin, med/- acid. I can feel a bit of booze in the retronasal and on my gums. Silty tannins, sweet luxardo-esque fruit of red and black cherries, plums, oaky vanillin, and some herbal lift on the finish. Tannins are fine, and gently tug at the cheeks. Very easy to drink, I dunno about holding onto this for the long haul- though it seems like it has the guts to do so, I just don't think the fruit acid will keep this wine fresh. Drink 2025-2030 imo.

  • Keenan: comparing 1979 and 2014: Enjoyed side-by-side with a 1979 Keenan "Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon." No decant. The family resemblance was there, especially in the sweet earth signature of both the bouquet and palate. This Mernet was a vivacious, plump wine that's already somewhat resolved. The sophisticated, textured fruit went will with a range of cheeses, especially the harder ones (unsurprisingly). Very nice blend. Will be fond of this producer after today's treats. And if the ‘79 Cab was that good 40+ years in, I would expect this Mernet to continue its vibrancy for at least 20 -2034.
