Like so many others from the underrated Rasteau region, this comes across like a bona fide Chateauneuf at half the price. The palate is smoky and packed deeply with berry fruits and a beef-stock meatiness which adds real character and power. Full-bodied with plenty of life ahead, this was perfect with a slow-cooked BBQ. What a stunning bargain this is at £12.

This bottle wasn't to the same level as the one from a year ago. More restrained. Perhaps it's a bit past its peak, at least this bottle. Cherries and blueberries and graphite and a bit of tobacco. Fruit was not as much in evidence as that last bottle.

This tastes more like a Port than a Rasteau. Although some might like it. It slowly slipped away from my liking.

Love this wine. Dark fruit, smokey, deep and earthy. Great value even though it seemed expensive for a Rasteau at the time
