Grainy with tobacco and a tight dry peppery nose. The duel in this wine is a draw, between its Zinfandel and Syrah. The pour was thin & watery- in a scary way; the Zin, we believe. But in the glass and on the palate it had a nice, medium body, it "grew" in the glass; the Syrah we believe.
Overall a winning combination as a lively, intrepid vin, with an albeit too short finish.
The juice fits the label, looks like an old western and tastes like a south west steak wine. It is or it really wants to be a masculine wine- whatever that means... Not at all the talent of a Stags Leap Artemis, but we'll call it a relatively bold steak wine.
We'll hold our other one to see if the vin smooths out and collects itself even more with time in the racks. Some higher scores are 2018 reviews, with a couple lower ones from '17... Maybe '19 will top out...

It was fine. Sandwiched between old world wines, so it suffered. Strong berries. Meduim finish. I've had it twice before and liked it. Not quite as strong tonight...

Medium-dense, garnet color with excellent clarity. Fruit-forward aromas of black cherries, plums, and spice. Dark fruit, spice, and mild tobacco in the mouth. Slightly firm tannins, but structure is well-balanced. Medium finish.

The lightest Zin Syrah fruit I've ever tasted. Light color, no nose, pallet was like watered down Pinot fruit. Very disappointed. Used rest for marinade

Straits Wines - Wine Fiesta 2017; 10/28/2017-10/29/2017 (Clifford Square, Fulleron Bay Hotel): primarily black fruits, but tannins are astringent, and alcohol burnish
