Very drying (and powdery) tannic structure. Stunning syrah fruit in a very ripe expression. The refinement of the fruit bouquet is world class. All blackberry, leather, camphor, and game. What is great about this wine is that it speaks of Barossa, but with a style that is layered, complex, and filled with personality. There is a huge finish on this, but the tannins are reminiscent of Barolo in their furry and drying nature. This wine could either bring its huge tannic structure into a sublime balance, or these tannins could become ever more intrusive. The fruit quality and complexity make further cellaring absolutely worthwhile. 95-96+?

This has fully hit its stride but still no rush. it. Like last time a mix between old and new world. Black pepper, smoke, violets, ripe blackberry liqueur, aged leather, and mineral. Hard to believe at one time I was able to find these $50.

My infatuation with these wines is nothing new, but this was my first time trying one with a touch of age. This Little Wine #6 is a blend of 4% 2012 vintage, 5% 2013 vintage, 44% 2015 vintage and 47% 2016 vintage. This was released in the beginning of 2017.
As if this alone wasn’t a treat, a buddy opened up the single vintage from the same release, the 2015 Mahe & Ribo. Similarities abound between the two, but I found this to be more sweet, rich fruit and less savory/roasted character. I wish I could have a candle from these wines because for me, there is no wine out there that has better aromatics than these. Absolutely fills the room with gorgeous dark fruits…high toned with jam/preserves notes. Sandalwood is evident too. The palate is very Aussie Shiraz like without dialing everything to 11. There is intensity here, but it’s not too much. Similar notes on the palate with so much back and forth of rich fruits with violets to sweet espresso and black peppered dark chocolate. Round and silk like on the palate. Enjoy now or hold.

See prior notes. Two years later and still improving with a long runway to go. A tough find in the States but buy it if you find them.
