Bright cherry & raspberry fruit, a little bit of tobacco, and wham! the tannins puckered my cheeks together. Fortunately, I opened it a couple of hours before dinner, and with some air time the finish settled into pleasant oak and flintiness. Great match with our steak.

One hour decant. Deep maroonish magenta color. Mulberry, green pepper, cigar, apple and clove on the savory nose. Smooth, tongue drying, somewhat chewy palate, with puckering acidity. Soft, round tannins on the medium finish. This is beyond its peak, but not very far.

PNP. Deep, dark red cherry color, with a thin rusty rim. Carmelized cherries, raisin, wildflowers, vanilla bean, crushed stone and fig on the nose. Grippy/chewy palate with good acidity. Firm tannins on the medium long finish.
This is very nice at the moment, but may be just beyond it’s peak. I’d drink this in the next year or two.

Bright fruit. Medium red color. Tannins have subsided but they reveal floral notes, some light currant and raspberry notes

Italics Winery Cellar Visit and Tasting. (Coombsville CA): Tasting at winery, brief note. Rich but clearly showing brightness and restraint, almost elegance. Very good length, balance and weight.
