No formal note, a little decant time lends itself to allowing this to open more fully and express a very good bottle of zin with all the expected qualities expressed without being over the top.

Taste like a Master Somm (Chicago, IL): Served double blind. At first this showed some pinot characteristics, with a bit of earth and some riper strawberry aromas. However, this seemed to change in the glass, sometimes with more cherry, sometimes with more plum. A slight bit of dust on the nose as well. The palate shows a fair touch of alcohol, and there's a sweetness (that isn't jammy) as well. This wine seemed a little clean and polished for my guess, but I went with Chateauneuf du Pape.

Really great Zinfandel in a classic Dry Creek Valley style. It's brambly and briary, juicy and peppery, with plump, lush cherry, raspberry, and integrated oak flavors that are perfectly in tune with each other. 8% Petite Sirah lends richness and resonance to the sexy finish.

What a gorgeous expression of Zin. Not that kludgey over-extracted style. This is elegant. Restrained. Incredible value for the price
