Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • A half-century American Cab on the occasion of Independence Day 2017. Note the need to "wineducate" (on back label) at the time!

A(ccuracy)=2: Low neck fill; moist intact cork; Med garnet with just slight brick/orange on rim; bottle must blown off quickly, ushering in lilting suggestion of crème de cassis; edged by truffle, fine herbs and leather in first hour; returning to plummy liqueur second hour on.
    B(alance)=3: Seamless silk.
C(omplexity)=2: Fully integrated, just short of layered, tertiary essence.
D(epth)=2: Velvety mouthfeel; ethereal length; lingering finish.

    Wine Tally Score [2,3,2,2] = 9/10

And this was just BV's "regular" Napa Cab. There were still The Rutherford, and George de la Tour Private Reserve...
