Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Visual: Lighter cranberry color with pretty serious bricking at the edges. Translucent, much lighter than a 1990 Jadot Beaune Gereves 1er that we were going to drink alongside it (until we discovered that Restaurant North changed their corkage policy to just 1 bottle DRATS!)

Nose: Light cherry and a hint of tar, earth and leather

Palate: Started off with shrill acidity and cherry flavor. Transformed into a nice wine with the fruit strengthening and some powdered sugar flavor.

Overall: B The tannins were long gone. I think this might have been better with 3-4 hours or more of Slow-O. I have 2 more bottles and will try that approach with them. The acidity ended up being quite nice, and the fruit was in a good place. The lack of tannin and of forest floor/earth/tar notes on the palate were a bit of a disappointment though.
