Outstanding wine! A tasting note is something of a moot point, since there will be very little left, but anyhoo......
Cork came out a little dry, but intact. Red colour, a little thinner than when younger, with a slightly brown rim. On the nose, fruit (ripe plums) and coffee. More of the same on the palate, with well integrated tannins, soft ripe red plums and a lingering finish. I was worried that I had left this too long in the cellar (probably did, to an extent), but it gave lots of pleasure.

only one tasting note for this wine from 2012 that noted "it needs 2 decades to reach a semblance of its peak", so I figured I'd try after one more decade - restrained nose of blackberries and graphite - but the beauty of the wine is the mouth: wonderfully full mouth of ripe black fruits with a more than a touch of sweet ripeness - soft resolved tannins and perfect acid balance - medium 10-15 sec finish - most drink Aussie shirazes as young fruit bombs that are appealing in their own right, but this bottle shows the elegance that can develop with 20+ years of age - not for everyone, but if you like old champagne, you will love this wine

Bought on release, signed by Rolf Binder when he was in town, stored all these years in my cellar. Our last bottle. Still garnet and opaque, with slight brick at the edges. Sweet dark cherry-blackberry nose, with leather, earthy overtones and a hint of sherry. It's still pleasant on the palate but has definitely lost some fruit and on the dry side. The sherry carries over into the flavor. Medium-long aftertaste, but moderately tannic. This is past its peak and should be drunk before it goes even further over. Ric

This is a massive and serious big bodied wine almost to a fault; it`s almost too much; everything is majorly stated; graphite and peppered black fruit abounds; I like the firm tannins and complexity as this unwinds and evolves; my guess is it needs 2 decades to reach a semblance of its peak.

Evolved on the palate, with black currant, bay laurel, cigar smoke and tart blueberries. loads of fruit and a m+ acid level that signals it has decades to go. plush, velvety tannin that sit weightlessly on the palate. beautiful now
