Smoky, gritty tannin, dark red fruit, some earth, and opened up pretty well over a couple hours. Good with steak. I had higher hopes for this, but it was still quite good and may yet improve.

It oddly was better the 2nd night... Tannins mellowed out, got some earthy tones and some caramel. it was okay, glad we drank them all up, definitely felt like they aged too quickly.

Tastes like it has gone by a bit. 1st night did run it through a venturi and it helped a bit, but most of the flavors I was hoping to get are not there. Its a bit on the tart side, with tannins, but not much in the way of flavors. I don't think I would keep and hold Twisted Oak wines in the future. 2nd time I've been disappointed.

tonight was a terrible night: i'd like to call it The Spaniard Vertical of Sorrow. We waited tooooo long on some of our bottles and had to dump '09, '11, and '12. the '13, however, was what saved us from total sadness. it saved us. nice with marinated and grilled mushrooms and a reverse seared bbq steak
