Last bottle of a recent auction find. Decanted 1 hour before and enjoyed over 3+ more hours during and after dinner. Right from the pnp, it's ready to indulge. It does improve quite a bit over 2+ hours and then hangs there for quite a while. Red fruit with a tinge of blue that turns more black as time rages on. A hint of graphite on the nose to go with the dark fruit and a touch of sweet tobacco notes, too. 5 hours in and some rich, dark cassis notes come on. Wonderful Venge/BCellars acidic backbone throughout, too. Truly firing on all cylinders. No harsh alc notes. 96 points at 5 hours.....if it changes further through the night, scores will be updated. Truly amazing how the Napa '14s continue to shine, right now!
addendum: last glass lasted another 2 hours so now 7+ hours of air....acidity rose quite a bit and separated itself out above and over the fruit, so a little disjointed towards the end of the evening. Best hours to drink 2 through 5, IMO.

Delicious, smooth, well balanced wine. Dark fruits and cedar on the nose. Medium to full, velvety body. Ripe blueberry, plum and mocha flavors with a long, round finish. Paired excellently with filet mignon and dijon red wine sauce.

At Ruths Chris paired with charred medium rare filet, after 2002 Krug Vintage. Nothing but praise over this wine. Dense fruit with chocolate and spice overtones, similar to Caymus Special Selection. Since the vineyards are just a couple mins away from each other, it is apparent the fruit is of similar quality. I will definitely be purchasing a few of the 2015s as I hear it's next level.

Smooth through the mid-palate and on through the finish. Maybe not as complex as the '15 B Cellars BTK tasted right before it, but the GIII was much more flavorful at the moment for me. Cristal2000's "delicious" descriptor just about says it all. An enjoyable drink for sure. Likely topping out in the 94-95 points range through its life. Good to drink now, but another year in bottle might do it well. Try again after 2019.

3-Day Napa Cab Taste-Off: Vice Versa, B Cellars, Memento Mori, Alpha Omega, Purlieu, Janzen, Realm, Myriad, MACDONALD, Maybach, and more...; 2/7/2018-2/9/2018 (Napa): This reminded me of a more regal version of a 2014 Myriad GIII, almost what I'd imagine the Empyrean to be like if Mike Smith produced a 2014 bottling of it. Finessed, elegant, but still pumping really nice blue/black core fruit and a fair amount of spicebox on the attack. There appeared to be a pebbly component to it that wanted to desperately show its face, but the dark fruit and spice cloaked it before it had a chance to self-actualize.
