  • Beautifully aged. Good clarity and complexity of fresh and matured aroma - bright and dusty raspberry and red cherry note, with a lingering whiff of fresh autumn air - ripe persimmon, dried leaves, wood barks, soil and bonfire smoke. Just a hint of aged balsamic vinegar adding further charm. Medium body, acidity is youthful and upfront, while tannin is sweet and well mellowed down, leaving just a mild hint of dried fruit substance like soft prune. Saline medium++ long finish. Overall, reminds of matured and balanced austrian blauflankish, can’t imagine it is from California, in a good way. This increased my interest in Graciano grape. Opened up and gained ripe volume on day 2. 90-91.

  • Wow now I remember why I bought several bottles. Like most of Jeff's bottlings you will want to stand a few days and decant. 1h decanting. Cherry and blackberries on the nose and palate. Moderate tannins. Continued to open up in the glass. Could definitely cellar a few years. Unfortunately my last of the '12

  • A very drinkable and interesting wine. This bottle seems to track James Kim's note below -- big floral elements, substantial fruit but with some tar / bramble notes as well.

  • Fantastic. Medium body and color. Cherry with Spice. This wine is awesome! Fun and easy to drink. Pleases wine geeks and normal folks alike. 3rd bottle. Will buy a case....

  • Decanted for 1.5h. Nearly opaque purple. Really took an hour in decanter to open up. Now very floral bouquet mixed with crushed blackberries and earth. P: Ripe blackberries, earth, a bit of tar with moderate tannins in midplalate. F: Flowers mixed with crushed blackberries followed by lingering earth. Just ripe and hits a lot of high notes. Young but need to get another bottle to see what this looks like in 10 yrs. I think this might be the best rendition yet.
