  • showing beautifully, with big bing cherry notes, integrated tannins, long, smooth finish with a bit of spice.

  • Izzy's note from February is spot on and I can't add much to it, including supporting his reference to the influence of the Merlot. Without it, I think the wine would not have the soft mouthfeel nor depth and breadth of the bouquet. Seriously long finish, too. Cheers Brad

  • A really good QPR wine at the initial release price. Drinking very well right now, no decant needed and anticipate at least 5-7 more good years with proper cellaring. Highly recommend. Drink or hold. Clearly one of the better CT bottlings and Brad (CT handle Drycab to whom this wine is an homage to and who was a friend of ours, the big German Shepherd on the label is his dog Zeus) would really have appreciated where this wine is at right now. ~ 70% cab / 30% merlot and the merlot very clearly comes through. Medium - full bodied, surprisingly acidic, well structured and well balanced, dark purple with a medium length to long aftertaste. Agree with Grafstrb down below that there are surprising red fruit notes on both the nose and palate that were a bit unexpected - perhaps the altitude or perhaps the Yakima valley terroir. Soft aromatic nose of both dark stone fruit as well as red fruit, minimal oak, a hint of vanilla and black pepper. Minimal to no funk on the nose. Flavor profile of well controlled oak, both dark stone as well as red fruit, stone, blackberry and a hint of cigar box at the end.

  • Consumed over three nights. This is a WA red I can really get into. Not overly funky, but just enough to be really interesting. Brad would like it.

  • -- decanted 30 min. before initial taste --
    -- tasted non-blind over 2 to 3 hours --
    -- 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot --

NOSE: tight; "dark" -- stony/pencil shavings; hint of mesquite.

BODY: violet-garnet color of medium-deep to deep depth; medium to medium-full bodied.

TASTE: decent acidity -- surprising; red-fruited a bit, but mostly a dark presentation --- it must be the Merlot lending the red-fruited facet to this wine; 14.8% alc. is a little warming in the belly; quite young; good; Drink or Hold --- I will wait 5 years before checking-in again. Gut impression score: 90 - 91.
