  • Really enjoyable with round flavors and some soft honey and floral aromas. No pronounced alcohol so easy drinking with chicken, turkey, or veggie burgers. 2nd btl with similar notes.

  • A blend of Roussanne (80%) and Marsanne (20%).

Pale golden yellow color. Rich, somewhat sappy and slightly wild nose with aromas of white peach, creamy richness, some pungent sappy herbal tones, a little bit of floral spice, light apple notes, a hint of lifted acetic character and a herbal touch of pilsner beer - which seems to be quite typical of white Northern Rhône. The wine is ripe, juicy and surprisingly full-bodied on the palate with some obvious sense of gravitas and quite concentrated flavors of mirabelle plum, pronounced creaminess, some honeydew melon, a little bit of tangy saline minerality, light buttery tones, a hint of apple jam and a touch of sappy herbal spice. The wine is quite high in acidity for the ripeness, retaining wonderful sense of freshness and balance. The finish is rich, quite long and somewhat oaky with quite pronounced flavors of sweet oak spice, ripe golden apples, some mirabelle plum tones, a little bit of creamy richness, light mineral tones of wet stones and salty tang, a hint of butter and a touch of white peach.

A rich, surprisingly oaky and very creamy Crozes-Hermitage white that comes across as atypically ripe and oak-driven for the typical style. I wonder if this wine saw a bit more new wood than in a normal year, or if Dard & Ribo could let the wine stay longer in the vine, becoming fruitier and riper due to the cooler vintage 2014? Nevertheless, the wine never comes across as excessively oaky or too ripe, but instead it retains the good freshness and the wild edge that are the hallmarks of this winery. A rich and even somewhat hedonistic effort, but still a very stylish and enjoyable drop all the same. Priced according to its quality at 33€.
