  • Not a fan of oxidative wines, but I liked this Madeira. What works here is that the acetaldehyde aromas and nuttiness as well as the unpleasantly dry palate is completed with sweetness, coffee, toffee, baking spices. Very lovely, small pour with cheese dessert.

  • Consumed over a week or so. Very impressive nose: dried figs, dates, candied fruit, hint of rancio, iodine, polished wood, sultanas. Extremely agile on the palate, with preponderant notes of caramelised nuts, fig, panforte, and orange-flower water. Semi-sweet, with invigorating, bracing acidity and salinity. All components balance well and make this dangerously easy to drink. Long finish. Quite complex, with the initial sweetness giving in to more mineral, saline, and inorganic notes of spice and wood. An excellent Madeira, and good value for money. I expect this to age very well.
