  • An opaque wine exhibiting a dark core and reddish brown hues on the rim. On the nose there are aromas of cherries, blackberries, plums, roasted red peppers, vegetable stock, tobacco, leather, underbrush, old decaying wood, cloves, cinnamon, black pepper, with small hints of sweet vanilla. On the palate the wine exhibits sour cherries and raspberries on the attack with a highly acidic mid palate with flavors of balsamic vinegar, licorice, dark chocolate, espresso, and roasted meats. The finish is of moderate length revealing plums, green herbs, wood, spices, creamy vanilla, and coarse tannins. A mid to full bodied wine that isn't that impressive, the fruit is good but the woody flavors, as well as harsh green finish isn't very appealing.

  • This one lacked a bit, particularly compared to past experiences with this wine, as well as the price. Nice mix of black cherry and plum fruit with dusty earth and spice. Tannins were fine grained and ended up going well with grilled steaks. I think their lower tiered wines hold better value too. Good wine, not great, just a disappointing experience.
