  • By the glass. Another "high-expression" wine that seems to have been born only to increase the income statement of the winery rather the love of fans for it. It says by who has enjoyed old vintages and awarded the highest scores to what others despised for being "only" a Marqués of Cáceres. This time it repeats more of the same: fruit in compote with spices and other notes from French wood. And once again the same story is repeated on the palate: tasty, heavy, concentrated, weak acidity and endless boredom. Far from what a canon of finesse and elegance should represent. In my humble vision, whoever misses these so-called "high-expression wines" at his table does not have his heart in La Rioja. This bottle and its sister MC are just a desperate cry of "hey, we also know how to make this type of wine". Who really cares?

  • Dark inky, in the modern style. Tannins restrain, but do not hide, the deep blue and red fruits and that French violet pastille that seems to feature in the special bottlings by top Rioja producers (like Muga's Seleccion Especial). This is the biggest and maybe the best wine yet in this series--one for 5+ years of cellar time.
