Medium colour of purple and cerise. Strong dry aroma of pepper and spice, dark berries, shrubs and grilled meat. Plum dominates the flavour, blackberry, some bitter vegetables. Medium body, medium tannin, I know it’s there but doesn’t stand out at all. Short finish, sour acidity to finish. 15 wasn’t a good vintage and I wasn’t expecting much. Probably better then I was expecting though, more body and flavour. Not well balanced though and a bit of an unpleasant finish. I made the mistake of joining Thomas wines after the 14 vintage, the results were underwhelming, although it isn’t fair to blame the winery, there was a couple of less then average vintages.

{screwcap, 13.4%, A$20} Sightly dull garnet. Nose is quite advanced for a wine so young; hints of tobacco, slightly sweet red fruit. The near-medium-bodied palate has a little jammy sweetness, but also a dilute, almost rustic quality. There's medium acid, low/medium finely grainy tannins, reasonable presence on the mid-palate, and a short/medium finish. A barrel blend from a range of vineyards. Decent save for the vintage, great value by any standards; I wouldn't keep it long though.

Scarlet colour. Aroma of cedar, resin, cloves, pepper. Cherry, plum, blackberry. Medium, dusty tannin. Discreet alcohol, soft, lively but balanced acidity. A bit bitter finish.
