Nose is quiet on opening. Dried black fruit, tobacco, some spice and slight oak/vanilla notes. Some cocoa/espresso as well. Full body, med- acid, med tannin. Fruit very much there on the palate. Lots of power here but totally in check. It’s a great wine at this age and likely won’t get much better, but will hang on for at least another 5-10 years. Nice!

Fleshed out after about an hour of air, this had some red cherry and leather, with a bit of cayenne pepper notes too. It showed just a little bit of heat damage in my opinion, but definitely drinkable, especially after a splash decant. I’d say drink up for sure

Napa Tasting (Bistro Cocotte, Haberfield): Dusty but baked at the same time. Slight plums, meaty notes, stinky...in the mouth it's sour; sharply so in fact, tannins are present but it's all wrong - no fruit. FLAW

Still had a ton of life left. We like well aged cabs, and this showed about 10 years younger. OK to hold for another 5-10+ years.
