  • This is a wine that truly shows you the typicity of Napa’s wine quality and what people love about it!

Sight: medium ruby color & medium staining as expected

Nose: Another French maiden in America disguise with floral tones lovely fruit purity and a real sense of place while having bodacious ripe red and dark fruits. There is a healthy but not over powered oak influence (the wine is young) but this wine is still about showing it’s serenity.

Taste: The palate is everything you could want in Napa Cabernet at this price point in every blind tasting I imagine the crowd is gonna pick this out idk why but the FAY vineyard just has that “thing” to it and 2018 is a great vintage! The structure is stern but understanding just carrying the lovely red berry fruit as well as some darker tones. Again, I appreciate when the nose translates to the palate and that is found here with clearly some terroir or a sense of place but remaining polished Napa cab. A joy to drink the acid really brings this wine alive as well making it seem light but rich at the same time just like the French Tiramisu we had later that night.

Overall: Stags leaps Fay vineyard has never disappointed me and I don’t think it ever will… a wine shows it’s true colors in hard vintages and and in good ones it shines bright. This wine is shining and I wish I had opened later but the occasion just couldn’t wait. The pairing with the Sofrito rubbed Filet Mignon with potatoes torta, Béarnaise sauce with Tomatoes Brûlée was absolute heaven!

  • Vielleicht noch etwas jung? Im Moment scheint er zu teuer zu sein....

  • I loved this - zero rough edges, impeccably clean brambles and blackcurrants. So tasty - like drinking from an alcoholic juice box (forgive me CellarTracker, for I have sinned). A superb example of its genre. Pure physical pleasure, easily parsed in its entirety, not in the least bit taxing or cerebral.

  • Very floral on the nose, opened up to earthy and leather notes on the palate, some pepper.

Fruit was well balanced. More acidic than a typical napa cab. Well structured, though definitely potential to age/smooth out.

  • 20 months ageing. PNP into Schott Zwiesel tasting glass (“Flower” day): Medium purplish ruby to the eyes.

Good minerality. Clean purplish cherry fruits. Florals and white spices.

    92-93 points.
